  1. Introduction Last year the Council held a series of discussions and workshops with local communities. Feedback from these events identified a number of key priorities, including new homes. The Council has responded by announcing a programme for delivery of 600 new homes, including a minimum of 300 Council homes for rent. One of the sites that has been identified with potential to provide new homes is 15-17 Hewer Street . Aims of today: We want your views about suggestions for the property, in order to help us develop our proposals and ensure that we have listened to the community and local residents.

  2. New homes programme The Council’s new homes programme aims to deliver 600 new homes including 300 council homes to rent . On the sites identified it is proposed that a mix of different types of homes is delivered including homes to rent and homes to buy. Grant funding has been secured from the Mayor’s office to assist with the delivery of Council homes to rent. At 15-17 Hewer Street the aim is to deliver new market rent homes whilst retaining the character of the existing building. This will help fund the proposed Council homes to rent at Kensal Road.

  3. Community feedback so far…. We have held a number of other consultation events in the borough about RBKC’s New Homes Delivery Programme. The community has told us that: • There is need for new affordable homes to rent. • They understand that some of the homes will have to be open market to help fund the affordable homes.

  9. The Proposal The Council wants to explore the possibility of improving upon the previous planning consent. This will allow us to: • Deliver more homes for North Kensington. • Respect the existing architectural style of the building. • Bring the building back into use.
