  2. Welcome Little League Supporter, Each summer, thousands of Little Leaguers begin a journey to become one of the very select few to advance to the Little League World Series. Now the world’s Little Leaguers are coming to Northern California! This summer, Northern California’s District 57 Little League will host for the Inaugural Intermediate Little League World Series, July 30 th through August 5 th , 2013 in Livermore, California. District 57 was selected over thousands of other well-qualified little league districts, cities and states who were all vying to host this global event. This new division of Little League Baseball is called the Intermediate Division, and after a two-year pilot program, the Intermediate level was made official in 2012. Players ages 11-13 are eligible to play in Intermediates, which features a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot bases, also known as “50/70”. Little League Baseball was founded in 1939 in Williamsport PA. Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program has assisted millions of children on every continent in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball and Softball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes. Little League Baseball, Incorporated is a non-profit organization whose mission is to "promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball and Softball." We’re excited to bring the Little League World Series to the Livermore, CA. As many as 10 teams from around the world, one (1) local host team, five (5) more U.S and four (4) international, as well as families, fans and friends will converge on the Max Baer Field for 19 games culminating with the Championship game Monday, August 5th LIVE broadcast on ESPN . We’re expecting close to 10,000 people to attend the 7 -day event this first year, those that will shop, dine, and stay in our community. In order to make this the success we know it can be, we are going to need the help of our community and neighbors. We would welcome an opportunity to tell you more about the Intermediate Little League World Series.
