  4. Dr. Jeffrey P. Hoy, D.D.S., F.A.S.D Private practice - California, USA After receiving his dental degree from the University of Southern California, Jeffrey Hoy joined a dental practice in Torrance, California. At that time his associates had been the team dentists for the Los Angeles Rams, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Kings. Dr. Hoy subsequently assumed the position of the team dentist for both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Kings Hockey team. In addition to his position as team dentist for the Lakers and Kings, Dr. Hoy also served as team dentist for fjve additional professional sports teams, the Los Angeles Ice Dogs Hockey Team, the Arena Football League’s Los Angeles Avengers, the WNBA Los Angeles Sparks, the Chivas USA Soccer Team and the NBA’s Development League Los Angeles D-Fenders. During Dr. Hoy’s role as a professional sports team dentist, he has participated in 9 world championship titles, including six NBA championships with the Lakers, the L.A. King’s fjrst ever Stanley Cup championship after their 44 years in the NHL, and the Los Angeles Spark’s two WNBA championships. As past president of the Academy for Sports Dentistry, Dr. Hoy presently serves as Secretary for the Board of Directors of the Academy for Sports Dentistry. Dr. Hoy has been a member of the ASD for 20 years and is currently working with several other members of the Academy to produce a Sports Dentistry textbook. Dr. Hoy maintains a private dental practice in Torrance, California.

  5. Dr. Francisco Barbosa D.D.S., MBA Hospital del Mar - Barcelona, Spain Francisco Barbosa graduated from the University of Alfonso X El Sabio, Madrid, Spain in 2004. He then went on to post-graduate studies in Oral Implantology at Santiage de Compostela University, Santiago, Spain. Dr. Barbosa then moved to Barcelona, where he continued his education at Escuela Superior de Implantologia, and continued as a Dentist at the Maxillofacial department of Hospital del Mar. At the same time he started his private practice in Barcelona and fjnished a degree in Advanced Oral Implantology at Loma Linda University, LA, California, US. Finally he fjnished his MBA at ESADE Business School in Barcelona too. Dr. Barbosa is also an author of iBooks about implant dentistry and other articles related with digital dentistry.

Dr. Mona Al-Sane D.D.S., MSc Assistant Professor in Paediatric Dentistry Faculty of Dentistry, Kuwait University - Kuwait Dr. Mona Al-Sane is an Assistant Professor in Pediatric Dentistry from Kuwait. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery from Leeds Dentalnstitute, UK. After that she joined the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received her specialty certifjcate training in Paediatric Dentistry and a Master of Science degree. Additionally, Dr. Al-Sane is a Diplomat of the American Board of Paediatric Dentistry. Dr. Al-Sane is currently a full time academic staff member at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kuwait University. Her current research interests are educational interventions to raise the public awareness of key concepts in oral health such as emergency management of traumatic dental injuries and infant oral health. In addition, she has a research interest in cariology and caries diagnosis.

  7. Dr. Mohammed Alsaey D.D.S. Consultant in Oral Surgery Director of Sports Dentistry Aspetar – Doha – Qatar Dr. Mohammed is on the German board of Oral Surgery at the University of Tübingen, Germany. He is also a member of the German Dental Association (Bundes Zahanärzte Kammer – Arbeitsgemeinshaft). Dr. Mohammed has a Diploma in Sports Dentistry from the UK, and is the fjrst Qatari dentist to be certifjed in Sports Dentistry. His role at Aspetar is to treat athletes with oral injuries and trauma, and to provide athletes with mouth guards. He also introduced the fjrst Dental Emergency Kit for athletes in the Middle East, and is deeply involved in promoting good oral health throughout the sports community through educational programmes.

  8. Dr. Cecilia Bourguignon D.D.S. Certifjcate in Endodontics Foundation Fellow of IADT Director of IADT (International association of Dental Traumatology) Private practice - Paris, France Dr. Bourguignon obtained her dental degree from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil and her Certifjcate in Endodontics from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, US. She also has developed a specialised interest and expertise in dental traumatology. She served on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) for 7 years and was editor of the IADT’s Newsletter until 2011. Dr. Bourguignon contributed signifjcantly to the 2007 and 2012 revisions of the “IADT Guidelines for the Treatment of Traumatised Teeth,” published in Dental Traumatology. She is co-author of two chapters in the textbook A Clinical Guide to Dental Traumatology, published by Elsevier and translated into Spanish and Japanese; the author of the chapter entitled “Preventive Strategies for Traumatic Dental Injuries” in the October 2009 issue of Dental Clinics of North America; and the chapter on dental traumatology in the French text Endodontie, released in November 2012. She is a reviewer for the journals Dental Traumatology and Acta Odontologica Scandinavica. In 2011 Dr. Bourguignon was elected President of the Endodontic Study Club CPEA (Cercle Parisien d’Endodontologie Appliquée). She has lectured extensively nationally and internationally and been actively involved in campaigns to improve the emergency care of traumatised teeth. Dr. Bourguignon maintains a private practice of endodontics in Paris, France. She has been nominated a Foundation Fellow of IADT and was recently reelected in the IADT Board of Directors.

  9. Dr. Raed Al-Sharabati- BDS, Dip. Ortho, MSc Consultant Orthodontist & Medical Director Al Raed Dental Centre - Doha, Qatar Dr. Raed Al-Sharabati obtained his Bachelor Degree in dentistry from Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan in 2002. He then did orthodontic training at Beirut Arab University, Lebanon in 2006 . After this Dr. Al-Sharabati fjnished a full time clinical Fellowship in Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut, US, and obtained a Master›s degree from the same university in 2009. He ' s now working as a full time Consultant Orthodontist in Al Raed Dental Centre, Doha.

  10. Esther Schunke Dental Assistant Sports Dentistry department Aspetar – Doha, Qatar Esther Schunke is a Florida Board certifjed Dental Assistant with expanded functions by the Dental Assistant National Boards (DANB), US. Her career spans over 17 years as a Dental Assistant with experience in all areas of dentistry, and with a genuine love for patient education. She has worked in both London and Germany and has been a team member of the Sports Dentistry department here at Aspetar since 2008.

  11. Lindita Berisha Dental Assistant Sports Dentistry department Aspetar – Doha, Qatar Lindita graduated with a diploma in General Nursing in 1999 from Maribor, Slovenia. She has worked in different hospital departments from trauma, to cardiology, to paediatrics. Since 2004 she has worked in both the private and government sectors as a dental nurse in the United Kingdom, and went on to do a NEBDN certifjcate for Dental Nursing at Guys Hospital, London in 2007. She also holds certifjcations in Leadership and holds a diploma in Business Management and Leadership from Brighton, United Kingdom. Lindita joined Aspetar in 2011 as a Dental Assistant, where she has been working closely with the athletes on improving their oral hygiene through interactive learning. Since 2014 she has been providing educational lectures and hands on training to the Aspire Academy students in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
