iCOPE: Islington Psychological Therapies Service IAPT: Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies
What is iCope? • A psychological treatment service for adults (over 18) with depression, anxiety or other common mental health problems. No upper age limit • We are referred 9000 patients a year and see patients in community setting • We can only see people with Islington GP • Our service is not suitable for people who are: actively suicidal and in need of crisis services severe substance dependency very severe and complex difficulties requiring secondary multi professional input and care mental health services
What therapies are available? We offer a range of interventions including: • Individual or group therapy (CBT, DIT, BCT, IPT and Counselling) • guided self-help interventions • computerised CBT • half day workshops and courses • Community linking people in with support services (eg carers, debt advice, exercise) • Employment support, further education and skills training and employment support in the community activities, volunteering
How do we contribute to suicide prevention? • Assessment and treatment and appropriate referral on/signposting • Rigorous clinical risk assessment and management • Communicating with other agencies involved with an individual to co manage risk eg GPs, Crisis Team, Personality Disorder services • Some specialist work with self harm
How do I refer to iCope? • Phone: 020 7685 4700 if you want to discuss and ask to speak to a Clinical Coordinator. • Can ask patient to see GP who can refer. • Patients can self refer on 0303 123 1000 or www.icope.nhs.uk
