ONE & DONE
The Book of Hebrews was written by a HEBREW to other HEBREWS telling the HEBREWS to STOP ACTING like HEBREWS
WHY? Many of the early Jewish believers were slipping back into the rites & rituals of Judaism in order to escape the mounting persecution Dr. Walter Martin , “Kingdom of the Cults”
The Book of Hebrews was written by a BELIEVER to other BELIEVERS telling the BELIEVERS to STOP ACTING like NON-BELIEVERS
The Book of Hebrews was also written to continually remind the early believers of the SUPERIORITY OF CHRIST. Jesus Christ is better than anything mere religion has to offer.
Hebrews 8:13 (NIV) By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

Hebrews 9:9-10 (NIV) 9 This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. 10 They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.
CONSCIENCE The conscience is a divinely given warning devise that reacts to sin and produces accusation and guilt. That cannot be relieved apart from the work of Christ. The MacArthur Study Bible
Hebrews 9:14 (NIV) 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
First Covenant New Covenant ▪ Regulations for worship ▪ Entered a greater more perfect tabernacle (not ▪ Earthly sanctuary/tab. made by human hands) ▪ Continual offerings for sins ▪ One time offering for sin & 1x a yr. for nat. sins ▪ Shed His own blood/died ▪ Always with blood of animals (goats/calves) ▪ Released from external rituals ▪ External rituals ▪ Able to cleanse consciences ▪ Unable to clear the – to serve Him conscience/worshipers
Isaiah 53:12(NIV) Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
2 Cor. 5:21(NIV) God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
1 Peter 2:24(NIV) “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
Takeaways ▪ The first covenant with its sacrificial system was insufficient – all external regulations (unable to clear the conscience/worshipers) ▪ Christ did a “ONE & DONE” to do away with the first covenant & its regulations to bring forth a new covenant allowing believers access to God…
Takeaways (Heb. 9:26-28) Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once (ONE & DONE) to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
