Introduction The group will be working across the St Helier and Wandle Valley areas with local residents, groups, and organisations to promote an improved quality of life and wellbeing for people living in the local area. Objectives 1. Getting the right information and advice to the right people So that local residents will know about and be able to access local activity where they can: � Take part � Get active � Be aware of local activity and � Access local Services and Support We want to establish a network of known and trusted sources of information that local residents are We want to establish a network of known and trusted sources of information that local residents are confident to approach for advice and information. Work with partners such as: � Councillors � Housing providers and contractors � Local Community Nurses � Community Police Teams � Retailers and Businesses � Faith Groups Love Where We Live
Objectives 2. Promoting and celebrating what the local area has to offer � We want to counteract a lot of the negative images and stereotypes that people will have of living in the area, and the group will focus on the positive aspects of what the area has. � It will highlight not only the activity and support available but also the skills, and abilities of people within the area. This will form the basis of a “Love Where We Live” Campaign. � The group will work with local Business partners and Council departments to engage in a wider campaign to promote and develop the local area as a positive place to live. Building Capacity by developing Social Groups and Activity. � The group will work to encourage people to celebrate, join and engage with existing opportunities that exist in the area. � In addition to this the group will work to link people together to form new social and interest groups where gaps exist.
