WHAT IS HONOR ROLL? • Da Vinci Design’s Honor Roll is an academic distinction given to students based on their grade point average • Each academic year, based on your grades, you have the opportunity to receive one of the following designations: • Honor Roll-GPA of 3.0-3.49 • Principal’s List- GPA of 3.5-3.99 • Superior Achievement-GPA of 4.0+ • It is based on your cumulative (the entire school year) grade point average in all of your academic classes (not including seminars).
WHY IS HONOR ROLL IMPORTANT? • Like any other award, it demonstrates that you have worked hard and achieved success • Each academic year, you have the opportunity to earn the distinction of being on the honor roll • It is important to recognize this honor because • Parents care • Summer programs and colleges care • You should care because it is your reward for working hard all year long! • Academic rigor, grades and GPA are the #1 factor colleges take into consideration for admission!
WHY IS HONOR ROLL IMPORTANT? Did you know that you and your parents can get special discounts based on your GPA? • Discounts on auto insurance • Many insurance companies will give your parents a discount for a good report card! • How’s that for incentive to drive your parent’s car? • Some retail stores give you discounts on products or services if you show them your report card or honor roll certificate with a certain GPA • Baskin Robbins, (Free scoop of ice cream for A’s & B’s) • Pizza Hut –Good Grades program(free personal pan pizza & beverage) • McDonald’s free value meal • All offers vary by location-but speak to manager to find out if your store participates!
DID I RECEIVE HONOR ROLL IN PREVIOUS YEARS? • This award is for the academic year 2013-2014 (ending June of 2014) • Based on your academic performance, you may have received honor roll in previous years, depending on your grade level • Please check in with your College Counselor to find out more: • Karen Grace-Baker aka Ms. KGB (Alpha A-K) • Erin Knott(Alpha L-Z) • Keep your certificate in a safe place at home so that you can access it for resume updates and college applications! You can also record it in Naviance Family Connection so you don’t forget about it!
