Synchronous vs. Asynchronous Learning Synchronous Asynchronous ● ● Monday-Thursday Fridays ● ● Students learn at the same time, Students learn at different times, communication happens in real time communication is not live ● ● Examples: Video conferencing on Allows students to work at their own Microsoft Teams pace ● Email, screen casts, pre-recorded videos from teachers, Canvas assignments, etc.
Two Main Learning Platforms
● Attendance is required by students and will be recorded daily ○ Students must be there for the entire class period to be counted as present via Canvas or MS Teams ○ Parents & Guardians have three days Attendance to turn in excuses for absences to the main office ● Students are expected to log on a few minutes early & to be an active part of class ○ Students are up & out of bed, aware of their surroundings, dressed appropriately, engaged with the class, etc.

Recorded Live Sessions 1. Please see the notice on my page on WCHS site. a. Parents have until August 20 th to “opt-out.” If they don’t opt-out, they are granting permission. b. In order to protect individual student privacy, students who opt-out will not participate in “live synchronous recorded sessions” but will be required to watch the recording.
