In 1999, GM EV1 equipped with NiMH battery demonstrated a range of 180 miles between charges. Since then, battery cost structure, power performance, and cycle life have been substantially improved, but the range has not. High capacity anode materials are developed but sensitive to electrolyte corrosion. Therefore, continuing research in innovative electrolyte, high- voltage cathode, and high-capacity anode in NiMH is conduct in the program. 2
