Scholarship and Training Loan Repayment MISSION – Improve the health of Programs underserved and vulnerable populations by strengthening the Support for Service and health workforce and connecting Retention Service skilled professionals to communities in need. 2
HRSA/BHW Funding Opportunities Our vision seeks to realize the full potential of combining health workforce functions such as awarding grants, loan repayment, and scholarships with health workforce research and health workforce monitoring. 3
National Center for Integrative Primary Healthcare Project • The University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine (AzCIM) and the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine & Health (The Consortium) in cooperation with the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)1 created the National Center for Integrative Primary Healthcare (NCIPH). • The project was fully funded for 3 years on September 1, 2014. The end of the project period is Aug. 31, 2017. 4
Purpose of NCIPH To advance the incorporation of competency- • and evidence-based integrative health (IH) curricula and best practices into primary care education and practice Develop a set of competencies and • educational materials relevant to primary care practioners 5
Patient Education Materials Under Development • One of the grant objectives for the NCIPH is to develop a set of patient education materials for use in the primary care setting discussing the integrative approach to a wide variety of common health problems, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Current CFS handout in draft. • Library of patient handouts will be available: • in both online and print versions • at a sixth grade literacy level in both English and Spanish • either from primary care practitioners or directly to patients through a patient portal on the NCIPH website 6
