Home-Based Learning (HBL) Briefing Slides for Students
The purpose of this HBL slides is to help you to familiarise yourselves with the HBL environment and the learning process.
The school has a curriculum continuity plan in place to activate Home-Based Learning (HBL) to ensure that learning continues for students during school closure. • HBL follows the syllabus and Schemes of Work (SOW) closely so that we avoid any loss in curriculum time • HBL is holistic in nature. For example, time is set aside for PE so that students continue to stay healthy • It keeps students engaged in learning when they are unable to attend schools • It gives students the opportunity to engage in self-directed learning
HBL Environment & Learning Process HBL needs not be confined to e-learning or learning with computers. It can include offline assignments or readings (e.g. readings from textbooks, PDF worksheets) Teachers will continue to monitor students’ learning progress during HBL Besides helping students with learning, teachers will also check on students’ well-being
HBL Environment & Learning Process Information of HBL will be broadcasted on the PHS Website. Students are to check their HBL weekly Timetables and plan their learning for the day To reduce congestion of the system, the preferred time to login to SLS is Lower Secondary Classes: 8.00 – 10.00 a.m. Upper Secondary Classes: 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m. This helps to distribute the system load and provide better user experience, and allows households with multiple school-going children to share computing device
HBL Environment & Learning Process During HBL, staff and students are to follow the normal school day hours from 8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. as closely as possible. This structure sets a common timeframe when teachers and students can discuss work online if needed During HBL, Form Teachers will host a video conference via Google Meet with their class from 7.40 a.m. to 8.00 a.m.
