HAUPPAUGE SOCCER LEAGUE PROPOSED DONATION OF IRRIGATION AND FIELD IMPROVEMENTS AT FOREST BROOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
FIELD CONDITIONS NEED TO BE IMPROVED CURRENTLY THE FIELD IS IN POOR CONDITION DUE TO LACK OF IRRIGATION. REQUIRES ROTOTILLING, NEW TOP SOIL AND RESEEDING TO GROW NEW, WELL ROOTED GRASS. PROPER IRRIGATION IS ESSENTIAL TO GROWING AND MAINTAINING THE GOOD GRASS.
POISION IVY SHOULD BE REMOVED FOR SAFETY POISON IVY IS ABUNDANT IN VARIOUS PLACES ALONG FENCE AND FIELD LINE AND CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE FOR CHILDREN PLAYING THERE. THIS SHOULD BE REMOVED.
NORTH FENCE LINE OVERGROWTH NEED TO BE TRIMMED BACK THE NORTH FIELD LINE ALONG LARCH IS OVERGROWN WITH POISON IVY, BRUSH AND LOW HANGING TREE LIMBS. THE POISON IVY SHOULD BE REMOVED TO MAKE THE AREA SAFER FOR THE KIDS. THE BRUSH AND THE TREE LIMBS SHOULD BE TRIMMED BACK TO KEEP THE PRIVACY OF THE LARCH LANE RESIDENTS AND MAKE THE AREA MORE VISUALLY APPEALING.
LARGER PLAYING AREA WILL REDUCE “OVERUSE” OF FIELDS THE SAME AREAS GETS USED OVER AND OVER EVERY YEAR MAKING IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID BARE SPOTS IN THE HIGH USE AREAS. THE CLEARING OF A SMALL AREA OF OVERGROWTH CAN PROVIDE THE FLEXIBILITY TO ROTATE FIELDS TO ALLOW SOME AREAS TO “REST” IN ALTERNATING SEASONS.
