History The mansion was originally owned by Edward Laurence Doheny Edward Doheny was an oil tycoon that drilled the first prosperous oil well in Los Angeles, California Ned Doheny (his son) commissioned the money to build this structure and its construction was completed in 1928 https://www.greystonemansion.org/histor y.html
History Cont. Over 20 years later, after the murder of Ned Doheny, Lucy Doheny (his widow) sold the mansion to Henry Crown. Henry Crown rented the mansion out to film studios as a location for shooting. The City of Beverly Hills ended up purchasing the mansion and made the estate a city park before Henry Crown could demolish the mansion in 1963 https://www.greystonemansion.org/history.html

Industry and Impact Today, the Graystone mansion stands as the most filmed mansion in the world, primarily due to its Old English architecture and its ownership under The City of Beverly Hills making it easily accessible to gain permission for filming.
