English Literature ◈ Paper 2 is worth 50%. ◈ 2 hrs 5 minutes. ◈ A Christmas Carol: One extract question. Compulsory. 20 marks. One essay question. Compulsory. 20 marks. ◈ Poetry Anthology one poem given / second from memory. 20 marks. 6 Unseen poetry – compare 2 poems. 20 marks.
English Literature ★ Both exams are closed book ★ Both exams are equally weighted 50% ★ Students need to know the texts inside and out (and learn short quotations) ★ They also need to have some knowledge of the context of all of the texts (except for the 19 th Century novel) ★ No tiers in English exams 7

English Language ◈ Paper 2 is worth 60%. ◈ 2 hrs 5 minutes. ◈ Reading: 7 questions worth 56 marks. ◈ Two extracts. ◈ Writing: one task worth 40 marks. ◈ F orm: letter, speech, article, report, speech…. ◈ Practice writing transactional pieces under timed conditions again, and again! 11
