Seed Change Grant Wrap up • Wrap up of the Seed Change grant which sent us to the Farm to School Conference in Madison, Wisconsin • Added a second high tunnel, solar powered temperature control, 6 more hydroponic beds, a sink and work table with the help of Eagle Scout Geoffrey Barrett. • Hosted 3 trainings on the workings of farm to school with grantees of the Seed Change grant here at GV. • Looking to create an education area near the high tunnel for the students to utilize. • Had a farmer visit to help us plant a butterfly garden with the students at KD’s Warwick program. Collaboration with teachers, support organizations, PDE, USDA, Food Trust, Dept. of Ag across PA to create a farm to school network

Garden • Record number of KD classes came out this year to plant their seedlings • We sent out 110 seed kids to classes this year! • This spring we have harvested and delivered to the cafeterias: • Spinach, lettuce, Basil, Cabbage, Pok Choy (a smaller version of Bok Choy), Turnips, and Kohlrabi • Turnips and Kohlrabi we used for the farmers market taste tests. • Continued assistance from the Chester County Food Bank for farming knowledge

  4. Summer program with “food truck” • Located in the Bryn Erin community park at the end of Kelmar Ave. • We will serve students free of charge meals four days a week. June 20 th – August 19 th . • Reimbursed by the USDA Summer Meal Program

  5. Recipe Contest • Hosted 2 nd Annual Middle School Recipe contest • 6 th grade winner-Rose Bleahen • “Italian Panini with Sundried T omato Mayo” will be featured on the middle school menu next year and served at our specialty station.

  7. NSLP Options • We maintain high meal participation • Shifted a la carte sales to reimbursable meals • More availability of compliant items Current High School Reimbursement: $14,500 70% Free and reduced meal participation:$ 8,300 • Total month expense: 22,800 • Year expense: $228,000
