Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigades Association Quality Sustainability Growth
Lake Tekapo 2014 Lake Tekapo was the first conference organised by CPFBA to ensure unwilling hosts aren’t overwhelmed with the task at hand and producing something that effects the growth and sustainability of the conference, having the ability to move throughout Canterbury using professional guest speakers, specialised conference venues and resort locations are key to the future of a first class AGM.
RCR Challenge 2014 Without doubt one of the toughest challenges to organise and host, our challenge this year is to secure a regular venue and vehicle supplier. PGG Wrightson seeds gave us the opportunity to use their venue and having been successful event we can now use it annually, cost is always a big factor and building better relationships with fellow provincials and the UFBA to have co-hosted events we believe is the best way forward.
Firefighter Challenge 2014 Having our own Firefighter challenge tower is a massive help towards having a regular annual event, it is only 3 stories high however we have all international rated equipment thanks to sponsorship which helps the guys successfully compete Nationally and internationally.
Operation Canterbury 2015 2015 is the first year we will hold our by – annual fire camp at the Burnham military base, the facilities are second to none with everything from confident courses to urban warfare villages available for training. The base demands high discipline from the attendees and delivers a great platform for us to help them becoming better fire fighters for our members. We involve several brigades from the area and also take the opportunity to deliver challenge workshops to encourage participation
People We can’t introduce sustainable projects without the right people to continue on the right path, attracting the right executive members is always difficult these days however we can build the right platform to ease personal and financial burden by spreading the work load and claiming fair and reasonable expenses. We need doers not Muppets!

Key Partners We have always worked well with all our fellow South Island provincial partners, it is difficult to produce all the events plus fire camps etc! However if we work together and have more South Island events it will take the pressure off us all to produce the already demanding schedule.. With all the new changes in Management we took the opportunity to cement a better relationship with NZFS, having area commanders at one of our executive meetings proved to do the trick. We were also lucky to have the support of the management team in securing an ex fire truck before it went to the scrap heap.
A New Start Relationships is crucial for all concerned, on our own we do ok with limited resources however together we can do more with the support of a closer governing body.. Should we be stand alone organisations or part of one large NZ wide organisation while being careful not to lose our own identity, are pooled resources better than a scrambling one..
