FINANCIAL JUSTICE PROJECT Accomplishments to Date Eliminated criminal justice administrative fees Launched payment plan & community service and waived $33 million in debt owed by 21,000 options for low-income people who receive parking people citations Eliminated overdue library fines, and waived $1.5 million in debt stemming from overdue fines Cut towing fees in half for low-income people Announced SF would make phone calls from Reduced boot removal fees by 80% for low- county jail free; stop marking up items in jail income people store Launched San Francisco Museums for All - Created new ability to pay process with the San allows free entry to museums with a public benefits Francisco Traffic Court to allow low-income card people to apply for discounts Cleared 88,000 holds on driver’s licenses for Conducted pilot to eliminate government-owed child support debt for 32 parents, so all their people who missed a traffic court date future payments would go to their kids. Current Tow Discounts Proposed Additional Discounts • • Low-income tow fee : $238 New, additional discount for people • Fee waiver for 4 days of struggling with homelessness. • storage fees, flatbed, dolly Reduced fee of $100 fee for customers fees, etc. certified by Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing • First-time tow fee : $450 • Increase storage waiver for low-income • Repeat tow fee : $537 clients from 4 days to 15 days (Currently $52 a day)
