  6. 2016/17 In 2016, 92 children went missing from home on 191 occasions; a quarter of these children we missing on more than one occasion Girls account for 53% of all children missing from home Children from BAME backgrounds make up 55% missing from home cohort Children aged 13-17 make up the largest proportion of children who go missing from home, wit the number significantly rising at 15 years In 2016, 80 children in care were reported as missing on 446 occasions with just under a third them going missing on more than one occasion Boys account for 60% of all children missing from care and children from BAME backgrounds make up 59% of the same cohort Children aged 13-17 represent 97% of children in care who were reported as missing from care and the frequency increases significantly in later adolescence with those aged 16/17 years o age, accounting for 58% of all missing reports Police, CSC, Education implemented a new Missing Children Protocol to improve quality multi-agency risk assessment February 2017

July 2017 481 of the families ‘turned around’ were identified as having between 2 and 3 problems Only 5 families with 5 or more problems have achieved turnaround Further data analysis is underway to understand the cohort, their problems and what is helpin them achieve turnaround Forward Plan to refresh Troubled Families Outcomes Plans with partners and use Service Transformation Grant to develop Partnership Hubs which will support an integrated approac in practice in working with families and in achieving ‘turnaround’ across multiple problem domai

June 2017 92 Young People are currently open to the YOT – this is an increase from 71 at the same time last year 59% are from BAME backgrounds 92% are male 86% are aged between 15-17 years 49.5% are assessed as requiring an intensive level of supervision (a minimum of twice per wee 60% are believed to be gang–involved The largest group of offences committed include the supply of drugs, violent related offences (GBH/ABH) and robbery YOT engaged in Education, Training & Employment (ETE) rate is above the national average a 65%-75% Those Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) are largely aged 16+ and many are children in care Recent National Standards Audit highlighted good practice in the quality of assessments , court reports and the service delivery to the court Areas for improvement include recording, level of home visits and standards related to long te sentences. The improvement Plan is overseen by the YOT management board

July 2017 Multi-agency team to wrap around children at high risk of CSE, Gangs and Missing Children’s Social Care lead with integrated clinical support from a family therapist and clinica psychologist Co-located with the virtual school, education psychology, speech and language therapy and delivered in close partnership with police & health services MAC-UK (voluntary sector provider) has partnered with Barnet following a bid for Health Education England funds Staff from MAC-UK have integrated with REACH to support the workforce to deliver psychologically informed services

SE, Missing and Gangs In July 2017 the CSE, Gangs, Missing sub-group to the Barnet Safeguarding Children Board was re-formed as a Vulnerable Adolescents sub-group Focus remains on CSE, Gangs, Missing and now also includes, Trafficking (county lines) and Serious Youth Violence Bi-monthly meetings arranged, chaired by Police - member representation from CSC, Community Safety, Public Health, Education and YOT Purpose and Aims: � Share data and intelligence to map risk and facilitate targeted responses to manage this across the partnership � Track and monitor effectiveness of delivery and implementation of relevant protocols an strategic action plans
