OPENING PRAYER Dear Jesus, Grant us the grace to joyfully find meaning in our lives. In your name we pray. Amen.

GOSPEL LEARNING In today’s Gospel from St. Matthew, Jesus tells three stories to teach about the Kingdom of God. In first parable, the man who finds the buried treasure must be willing to risk everything he has. The second parable is similar, it shows a rich man who seeks the treasure. In the the last parable, the fishermen catch all sorts of fish, we find that the unjust and the just are together in the net; but at the end there will be sorting out of those who are unworthy and those who are just.

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew 44 “Katulad ng Kaharian ng langit ang kayamanan na nakatago sa isang bukid. Nang makita ng isang tao ang kayamanan, tinago nya ulit ito. Masayang-masaya syang umalis, binenta lahat ng properties nya para mabili nya ang bukid na yun.” 45 “Katulad ng Kaharian ng langit ang isang negosyanteng naghahanap ng mga magandang pearls. 46 Nung nakita nya na ang isang high-class na pearl, binenta nya para bilihin yun.”

47 “Katulad ng Kaharian ng langit ang isang lambat na hinagis sa dagat. Nakakahuli to ng ibat-ibang uri ng isda. 48 Pag puno na ang lambat, hihilahin na to sa tabing-dagat. Uupo ang mga tao habang pinipili nila at nilalagay sa mga baskets ang mga magagandang isda, pero tinatapon yung mga walang kwenta. 49 Ganito rin ang mangyayari sa katapusan ng mundo. Dadating ang mga angels at ihihiwalay nila ang mga masasamang tao sa mga mabubuti. 50 Itatapon nila ang mga masasama sa impyerno. Hahagulgol at manginginig sila dun sa sobrang hirap.”

51 “Naiintindihan nyo ba ang lahat ng to?” tanong ni Jesus sa kanila. “Opo,” sagot nila. 52 “Sinabi nya sa kanila, “Kaya nga, ang bawat teacher ng Law na naging disciple ng Kaharian ng langit ay parang may-ari ng bahay. LIVING THE GOSPEL 2. GOSPEL THEME In these parables, Jesus is teaching that the Kingdom of God is so valuable that one must risk everything for it. When we finally understand the Kingdom of God, it will be like finding the greatest treasure we can imagine. The result is complete joy in finding what is most important in life.

LIVING THE GOSPEL 3. GOSPEL CHALLENGE Reflect about your actions on how you can keep the “jewels” or the valuable things and how you can give up what has little value in your family life.

TRIVIA: THE KINGDOM OF GOD The Church understands that Jesus showed the world God’s saving love. He preached about the Kingdom of God and the kingdom is here now among us, it is not here in full. It will come about in full when Jesus comes again at the end of time. The way we live our lives here on earth can help bring about God’s kingdom. When we spread God’s love by working for peace, and helping the poor and needy, we prepare for God’s kingdom.
