Show Up, Stand Out Consolidated Community-based Organization (CBO) & Youth Service Provider (YSP) 2017-05 Grant Objective – The program objective is to reduce unexcused absences by mitigating barriers to school attendance of children and their families with five or more unexcused absences prior to escalation to Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) and court referral. Community-based organizations are partnered with school to provide wraparound services that assist children and their families in addressing the practical, behavioral, financial, and health challenges that prevent them from attending school. Organizations must have the capacity to house two intervention models based on education level to effectively address truancy. Elementary school programs are based on a family engagement model that will target at least 500 families, while the middle school program is based on a youth/family engagement model that will target at least 150 students per successful applicant. 3
Funding & Eligibility Funding – qualified applications will be selected for an award amount up to $500,000 each ( $400,000 to focus on elementary school and $100,00 to focus on middle school) Eligible Applicants – non-governmental organizations registered in the District. Eligible Program Areas – applicants must have capacity to build relationships with school administrators, provide case management and youth engagement with sufficient workers, respond to crisis with sufficient clinical social workers, engage families/students, and reduce truancy. CBOs may be assigned to elementary schools (k-5), education campuses (k-8), and middle schools (6-8) YSP will be assigned to middle schools (6-8) 4

Elementary School: Family Engagement Model Expectations • Follow Program and Data Collection Standards • Participate in an outcome/process evaluation provided by JGA • Enter data in Efforts-to-Outcomes (ETO) within 48 hours of action • Each CBO provide case management to 500 students across DC Public or Public Charter Schools yielding in increased attendance for the student. Schools not on list are invited to be considered. • Deliver programming under Show Up, Stand Out branding. • Direct staff must obtain DCPS clearance prior to project commencement. • Attend all technical assistance workgroup sessions. (average of every two months) • Refer to RFA for full set of expectations • FUNDING: up to $400,000 6

Middle School: Youth Engagement Model Expectations • Follow Program and Data Collection Standards • Participate in an outcome/process evaluation provided by JGA • Enter data in Efforts-to-Outcomes (ETO) within 48 hours of action • YSP: Provide programming with capacity to provide two to four program sessions on a weekly basis. • Conduct programming that engages 30-60 students per school. • Provide programming during school hours. • Provide two different types of clubs (mentoring and active). • Schools not on list are invited to be considered. • Deliver programming under Show Up, Stand Out branding. • Direct staff must obtain DCPS clearance prior to project commencement. • Attend all technical assistance workgroup sessions (average of once a month) • Refer to RFA for full set of expectations • FUNDING: up to $100,000 9
