Environmental Representative's Appointment letter 4 committing to, but not limited to the following responsibilities: Conduct Environmental Induction prior to commencement of duty 4.1 (project) Communicate environmental authorisations/ permits 4.2 requirements for the project (where such permits exist) Acquire project specific Vegetation Management Plan / 4.3 programme (EMP) as well as Government Permits/ Authorisations from Eskom Land Development -Environmental Section 4.4 Ensure training of staff on Eskom mandatory training prior to commencement of work. Ensure housekeeping. Ensure that working site is kept neat at all time. Ensure that waste is managed according to the 4.5 requirements of the law (refer to EMP). All waste must be disposed-of at registered dumping site and proof of such authorisation must be obtained from relevant local municipality. Vegetation Management Plan further addressing Hazardous 5 chemical management and Waste Management. 2

Common mistakes made by tenderers on Environmental submissions 1. Environmental policy: commitments are not outlined in the policies submitted ( Continual improvement, pollution prevention and Compliance with applicable environmental laws/legislation) 2. Environmental Policy not signed. 3. Appointment letters not committing to the stipulated responsibilities. 4. Confusion of VMPs ( Vegetation Management Plans) and Waste Management Plan. 5. Training matrix does not have any environmental related trainings as stipulated in the Annexure A.2.1 guide 6. Submission of expired training certificates (LOU fraudulent certificates will be picked by the evaluators) 7. Vegetation Management Plans copied from the internet sites, and as such become irrelevant to the scope of work/company. 2016/10/29 4
