Plastic Facts: 320 million tons new plastic has been produced in 2016 In the US 500 mio plastic straws are used every day Every minute 1 mio plastic bottles are bought around the world 4

To date 8.3 billion tons of plastic have been produced 6.3 billion tons is waste, only 9% is recycled, 12% incenerated 79% - 5 billion ended up in landfills and our environment This is the weight of 500,000 Eiffel towers or 50 mio whales 5

Rotary Clubs in Amsterdam started the End Plastic Soup initiative in June 2018 Over 30 Rotary clubs gathered from Amsterdam en 11 European cities of the Leonardo da Vinci Award network 8

Boyan Slat and his Ocean Clean Up project were rewarded with the Leonardo da Vinci award 9
