Food Insecurity • Food insecurity: lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life • 1 in 8 American households (15.8 million households) were food insecure during some part of 2015 • 7.8% of US households with children (3 million households) were food insecure at times during 2015

  3. Food Insecurity & Obesity • S ome research suggests a relationship between food insecurity and obesity • Cycles of over- and undereating • Lack of access to healthy foods • S tress, anxiety, and depression • Less physical activity • Food marketing • Limited health care access

  4. Purpose • Create resources to help families in North Central Florida gain access to food and empower families to cook this food in a nutritious way.
