Programme update • Causeway Alliance of the NZ Transport Agency, AECOM, Coffey, Fulton Hogan, Leighton Contractors and Sinclair Knight Merz are delivering the project for the Transport Agency • Sept 2013 - Causeway construction continues • October 2013 to Sept 2015 – Whau bridge widening • Late 2016 – Causeway upgrade due to be completed • Early 2017 - Waterview tunnels open

Whau bridge widening – cross section • Broad range of experts review construction activities • Pre-clearance and ongoing inspections for lizards, vegetation, trees and archaeology • Stormwater, erosion/sediment control, coastal area protection established before works begin and regular inspections • Ongoing monitoring of earthworks compliance, contaminated soils, noise, air quality, marine ecology and birds • Monitoring results to be issued to CLG

Summary • Construction progressively moving along SH16 to upgrade the corridor by late 2016 • Causeway Alliance is committed to working closely with the community and monitoring works to minimise effects on environment • Project outcome is to ‘tread lightly’ on the surrounding environment and marine reserve • Reviewing options for including further environmental mitigation projects
