What is WebCheck? Originally launched in 2008 by Fáilte Ireland (National Tourism Development Authority Act with the aim of guiding and promoting the Irish tourism industry) The scheme was intended to assists enterprises in the tourism sector through strategic and practical support in order for these enterprises to acquire competitiveness The scheme reviews existing websites and offers on consultation services with a view to improving website visibility, navigation and usability. 2013 - Economic and Management Consultancy Services Ltd. 2
How was the project conceived? MCA was part of the ICT-VN project which had the aim of promoting ICT usage by SME’s to increase competitiveness Malta decided to work with Fáilte Ireland and to study the possibility of transferring the WebCheck Project to Malta The 1 st project launched by MCA consisted of the Analysis of the transferability of the project and recommendations on the adaptations needed for Malta Following this project the WebCheck Project was launched in Malta 2013 - Economic and Management Consultancy Services Ltd. 3

Aims and Objectives The main objective of the WebCheck Scheme is to improve Malta’s competitiveness by improving the web presence and online offering of local businesses. This entails: Conducting website audits for eligible licensed serviced accommodation entities through the use of an audit checklist and e-business consultant visits The preparation of an audit report that will assist participating entities in improving their web presence The presentation of success stories to promote the scheme’s success. 2013 - Economic and Management Consultancy Services Ltd. 6
