  8. Two critical deadlines… 2 steps to take for application/admission 1 By 11 July 2018 Register online with us to take the 11+ test 1 By 31 October 2018 Apply online to your Local Authority

  9. Applying to take the 11+… Registration online to take the 11+ test:  must be done by the deadline so that you get a test invitation and we know your son is coming  Must be completed in full so that we have the necessary information to prioritise places later on  If your son has an EHC Plan/SEND or specific learning needs then complete the Special Access Arrangements Form and return it to the Admissions Office by 6 July 2018

  10. Applying to take the 11+… When you register you will receive:  An acknowledgement by email (check your spam)  A copy of the familiarisation booklet Week beginning 10 September:  Invitation letter containing timetable for the day and also a room card and further info  Decisions regarding any special access arrangements will also be notified

  11. 11+ Day Timings…  Arrive 0830-0845 at either 11, The Close or Exeter Street Gate (see room card). Boys only!  Finish 1145  Exit the same way as you came in (see above)  At the end please DO NOT come onto the school site until the gates are opened (If your son is feeling unwell on the morning then there is a late test on Friday 21 September)

  12. 11+ Day – some tips…  Allow plenty of time – to travel in and to park  Boys need to come properly dressed – use common sense!  Equipment – 2 HB pencils, sharpener and eraser in a clear polythene bag  Water and snacks for the morning break  DO NOT bring mobile phones – this could result in disqualification!

  13. 11+ Day arrangements…  Experienced staff invigilators  A team of prefects  Medical assistance  Access to toilet facilities (but no extra time will be granted if a boy needs a toilet break during the test itself…planning is good!)  2 papers, each 50 minutes long, separated by a 30 minute break  Mixed questions in both papers, using an audio soundtrack

  14. 11+ scores – what next…?  The papers are marked by optical mark reader and the results are then standardised across both papers and age weighted; this is the score that you will receive, by post, in mid-October. The letter will tell you whether your son has reached the cut-off score (in a typical year) or not  Raw scores are NOT available  You can then decide whether to apply for a place for your son at BWS  The BWS score letter IS NOT an offer of a place!

  15. Applying via your Local Authority  You must complete the secondary schools’ application form available from your local authority and submit it by their deadline; you MUST put BWS as a preference if you wish to be considered and/or appeal later!  Oversubscription and a waiting list are possible – see our website for how places are allocated  The deadline for application will depend upon where you live…so please check  Then…a long wait until 1 March 2019…!
