Expectations of wage employment: social mobility and provision for dependents You don’t just want to work and waste your time. You want to work and see the benefits of working – Kabelo If I’m not going to get an opportunity to get a house from that job, you know what I mean. What’s the point in me sticking to a job that’s not going to help me get a secure roof over my head - Kabelo

Expectations of wage employment: social mobility and provision for dependents When you look for a job you don’t look for a job that is going to drain you. You need a job that is going to build you so you will have a future tomorrow – Eric Anything [that pays] less than R4500 is draining, as I won’t be able to do the things I want. I have a family and there are the things I want to do. I want to go back to school and finish matric. I want to get married and pay ilobola [bridewealth]. All those kinds of things you want to do in your life – Eric
Experiences in wage employment: disrespect and unfairness I don’t believe I need to slave for someone else. 'If I'm working for someone, black or white, when I see I’m being exploited I move on, I take what’s mine and move on – Tsoanelo
Conclusion Is any job better than no job?
