THE OPPORTUNITY • 2015, 2016 & 2017 Regionals • 2015, 2016 & 2017 Finals
THE STRATEGY Regional Rounds • Increased attendance at regional sites. • Financial guarantee of $10,000. • Increased local interest and ticket sales at these sites.
THE STRATEGY Final Site • Looking to showcase college volleyball to new communities when possible. • Identify areas with strong community support for local collegiate volleyball as well as NCAA Championships. • Identify key leaders in the community to assist in all aspects of the planning process (build your team).
THE BID Regional Rounds – What we look for: • Facility capacity • Proposed budget: facility rental and personnel expense • Regular season attendance and ticket sales • Hotel options: quality, quantity and location • Past hosting experience
THE BID Final Site • Facility: ideal capacity 15,000-18,000 • Hotels: six high-quality, full-service properties • Ancillary Events: on-site fan interactives, with potential for a fan fest • AVCA Convention: 3,900 hotel rooms by 2,600 attendees and exhibitors, use of convention center, large restaurant/retail impact
THE BID Other Final Site Considerations • “Destination” city for fans and coaches. What is the draw to your city that would encourage attendance (especially for coaches with the AVCA Convention)? • How easy/expensive is it to travel to the site? • Other large conventions or sporting events hosted by city. • Demonstrated support from your local government. This later factors into street closures, access to the airport, etc. • Host institution/conference and local sports commission/CVB mutual support.
THE BID Final Site Benefits • Economic impact • National Television Exposure (ESPN) - Estimated 1,000,000 watched the 2012 national championship game. • Community impact: o Local volleyball club teams exposure to the top collegiate competition. o Support of local charities through our activation with our Corporate Champions and Partners.
THE TIMELINE • June 17 Bid specs available • July 15 Bid portal opens • August 9 Bid declarations due • Sept. 16 Bid portal closes • December Sites announced
