Alternate Media and Assistive Technology • Sonocent Audio Notetaker • Echo Smart Pen • Kurzweil 3000 • Remote Captioning • Dragon Naturally Speaking • Video Magnifiers • DSP Computer Lab upgrades
Sonocent Audio Notetaker • Records lectures to computer or smart phone hard drive. • Students able to highlight important sections of lectures, type notes, and import images/presentations. • Students able to import lecture audio so Sonocent software onto their own personal computer.
Echo Smart Pen • Records lectures to internal memory. • Plays audio back through speakers or headphones. • Pulls digital notes with audio into students’ computers. • Students are loaned a pen for one semester, then are provided with information on where and how to purchase their own.
Kurzweil 3000 • Provides an auditory format for textbooks, classroom materials, and other digital resources. • Allows students to highlight text, add notes, and extract important content. • Provides materials on multiple devices: • Campus Computers • Student Computers • iPads (K3000 app) • Provides and auditory format for student writing.
Remote Captioning • Provides real-time captioning of in-class lectures. • Students borrow laptop computer for an entire semester. • Has saved DSP $75,000 via DECT grant.
Ruby XL HD Video Magnifier • Magnifies text and images from printed materials without blurring/pixelation. • Applies color filters to black/white, white/black, or yellow/blue to increase contrast • Available to students for use in the DSP office
Onyx Portable HD Video Magnifiers (CCTV) • Magnifies text and images on documents and presentations. • Works with student laptops or in-class computers.
Dragon Naturally Speaking • Text dictation software that allows students to type hands-free. • Able to be used in DSP Lab. • Able to be installed on student’s computer for the duration of their time at SCC.
DSP Computer Lab Upgrades • Open for student use Monday-Friday. • 14 new desktop computers. • Double monitors for visually impaired students. • New security system in lab and testing rooms. • Accessibility software on every computer. • Specialty software for advanced classes • Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom • Wabbitemu TI Calculator Emulator
