SPANISH • BEGINNING AND INTERMEDIATE SPANISH ARE EQUIVALENT TO SPANISH 1. IF GRADES IN BEGINNING AND INTERMEDIATE ARE NOT HIGH A’S THEN SPANISH 1 SHOULD BE TAKEN IN HIGH SCHOOL. • STUDENTS MUST BE RECOMMENDED FOR ENGLISH 1 HONORS TO TAKE A WORLD LANGUAGE IN 9 TH GRADE. IF THEY ARE IN STANDARD ENGLISH, THEY WILL CAN START WORLD LANGUAGE IN 10 TH GRADE. • WE HAVE A NUMBER OF 9 TH GRADERS WHO ARE FAILING OR HAVE D’S IN SPANISH 2 DUE TO THE LEVEL OF RIGOR AND PACING.
INTENSIVE READING • IF THE FSA ELA SCORE FROM 7 TH GRADE IS A LEVEL 1 OR 2, STUDENTS WILL BE PLACED IN WORLD HISTORY AND READING SCHEDULED TOGETHER FOR 90MINS EACH DAY. • IF STUDENTS HAVE NOT TAKEN THE FSA ELA EXAM SERIOUSLY AND DO NOT WANT TO BE IN THIS BLOCKED COURSE, ENCOURAGE THEM TO DO THEIR ABSOLUTE BEST THIS MAY ON THE 8 TH GRADE EXAM. UNLESS THE SCORE IS A 3 OR HIGHER, STUDENTS WILL REMAIN IN BLOCKED WORLD HISTORY COURSE.
