  2. Why? • Your child wants to further accelerate in mathematics and is not taking Pre-AP Geometry and Pre-AP Algebra 2 concurrently • Your child desires further acceleration and challenge in mathematics • Your child wants to explore AP mathematics and beyond in high school

  3. What? • A section of Pre-AP Algebra 2 that is designated for qualified applicants • Blending of Pre-AP Algebra 2 and Pre-AP Precalculus curriculum • Students will only receive credit for Pre-AP Algebra 2 • Enrollment will be limited

  4. Where? • Historically, we have been able to offer the course at both CHHS and GHS • 2019-2020 middle school students who qualify have district-provided telescoping transportation (one way beginning/end of day OR two way middle of day) • Not available through Collegiate Academy or iUniversity Prep

  5. Student/Teacher Information

  6. How? • Pre-AP Geometry students/parents fill out & digitally sign application & attach Algebra 1 EOC/PSAT score sheet • Application deadline: 12:00 noon, February 25, 2019 • Algebra 1 EOC scores verified (by GCISD math dept.) • Placement exam: Thursday, February 28, 2019 • Teacher evaluations gathered (by GCISD math dept.) • Exam graded • Course committee meets to analyze data • Letters go out to parents of all students who took the placement exam around Spring Break • Students who qualify are hand-scheduled by counselors
