  27. EAST OTERO DISTRICT – BIG PICTURE • DISTRICT OWNS A LOT OF PROPERTIES • SLOWLY DECLINING LONG TERM ENROLLEMENT • SHORT TERM OVER CROWDING AT PRIMARY & INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS • EAST BUILDING IN POOR SHAPE • MOST BUILDINGS IN GOOD SHAPE, BUT WITH SOME FUNCTIONAL INEFFICIENCIES • COMMUNITY BENEFIT FOR SCHOOL CAMPUSES IN CLOSER PROXIMITY TO EACH OTHER 30 East Otero Master Plan

  30. OPTION 1 • ADDRESS PRIMARY ISSUES AT EACH CAMPUS WITH NO MOVES N OR NEW SCHOOLS 33 East Otero Master Plan

  31. OPTION 1 PROS: COMMENTS: • Potentially the lowest initial cost • This option could include renovations to address only maintenance items or could include functional efficiencies as well CONS: • You can only do so much with the existing buildings • Does not make a big impact on community perception of the district facilities 34 East Otero Master Plan

  32. OPTION 2 • BUILD NEW K-2 AT VACANT SITE • MOVE PRE INTO WEST BUILDING • MOVE NEW HORIZONS INTO COLUMBIAN • RENOVATE JR/SR HS • RETIRE EAST BUILDING N 35 East Otero Master Plan

  34. OPTION 2 PROS: COMMENTS: • • CDS would have good playground, drop off, lots of space Minimum renovations required at west building for CDS • • Would get a new Primary School Renovation at JSHS would seek to address security • All Schools are in closer proximity issues such as exterior classroom access, etc. • Getting rid of East Building is a financial benefit CONS: • Does not address the HS with the biggest functional problems in the district 37 East Otero Master Plan

  35. OPTION 3 • MOVE K-2 INTO INTERMEDIATE • MOVE NH INTO WEST BUILDING • BUILD NEW 3-6 AT VACANT SITE • RENOVATE JR/SR HS N • RETIRE EAST 38 East Otero Master Plan
