The Accounting & Finance Department Note that all students in the Accounting & Finance Department, major in Accounting & Finance . Within that major, you have a choice between two concentrations , either Accounting or Finance . Finance Concentrations If you plan to concentrate in Finance , please see the Finance Planning Guide. Accounting Concentrations If you choose Accounting as a concentration, please see the Accounting Planning Guide. Our Accounting program is 150-hour compliant, meaning that we satisfy the education requirement to sit for the Uniform CPA exam in Massachusetts. Students may do this by completing the MSA (Masters in Accountancy) degree. Please note that qualified students must apply separately to the masters program. Admission is selective and competitive.

Grade Policy for Accounting and Finance Majors •A minimum grade of “C - ” is required in ALL Accounting and Finance courses (ACFI) toward fulfillment of the requirements for the accounting and finance major. • This policy applies to students accepted for matriculation as freshmen or as transfer students enrolled for the fall 2014 semester or thereafter. •Students who receive a “D” or “F” in courses may continue as Accounting and Finance majors but must retake the required courses in which the “D’s” or “F’s” were earned and earn a grade of “C - ” or higher, so that no “ACFI” prefix required courses, with grades below “C - ” will be counted towards fulfillment of the requirements in the accounting and finance major.
Accounting and Finance E-mail ALL matriculated BSU students have access to free e-mail accounts. Once activated, please check your e-mail regularly for information. Note: Students need to use their Bridgewater email account for our University’s Blackboard system and many faculty members do not respond to non- Bridgewater email accounts.
Academic Advising in the Accounting and Finance Department You will be assigned an Academic Advisor in the Accounting & Finance Department. Our departmental policy is that students see their own, assigned, advisor. This individual is available to you during the regular academic year (Fall and Spring semesters). Please be sure to see this individual before the end of every semester to be advised. If you are not marked as advised by your assigned Academic Advisor, you will not be allowed to register for classes. Please note that advisors are not available during the Summer.
Departmental Honors Program The Accounting and Finance Department offers a Departmental Honors Program. This program provides an opportunity for well-qualified Accounting and Finance majors to conduct independent research and scholarly study in accounting and finance. Accounting and Finance Lab The Accounting and Finance Department offers peer tutoring at the ACFI Desk in the Academic Achievement Center located in the ground floor of the Maxwell Library.
