Terms • Cohort Data – students who are educated at the same period of time—a grade level or class of students • HUP – Historically Under Performing – (Special Education, English Language Learners, Economically Disadvantaged) • PVAAS – Pennsylvania Value Added Assessment System - PVAAS is a statistical analysis of Pennsylvania ( PA ) state assessment data, and provides Pennsylvania districts and schools with growth data to add to achievement data. • SPP – School Performance Profile - a school level academic score for public schools, that includes indicators for Academic Achievement, Closing the Achievement Gap, Academic Growth, other academic indicators SPP - http://paschoolperformance.org/FAQ
3-4 Elementary Key Points • Areas of strength • Scores for ELA, Math and Science are above the state average range from 4% to 12% • 3 rd grade Math scores saw a 9% increase between 2015 and 2016 • 4 th Grade ELA had the highest number of students scoring advanced • Areas of Concern • Scores from 2015-2016 in 3 rd and 4 th grades decreased in ELA • 21% of Cohort Math students moved out of advanced • Achievement gap between black and white students of 26% in ELA and 31% in Math in 2016 1.
