Brief history of how we got to where we are. • 2005-2007: McGill petitions City for University Street bike path. • 2006-2008: Milton, de Maisonneuve, du Parc paths opened • 2007-2009: Discussions with City on need for a connecting path • 2009-2010: Presentations of 5-Year Master Plan across McGill • 2009: • University Street bike path announced by City in August, established in Fall. • McGill publicizes move toward a “pedestrian- friendly campus” • 2010 (May) • Bylaw declaring McTavish as a pedestrian zone passed by City • James Square completed, restrictions begin on traffic on McTavish and Lower campus

  4. May 28, 2010 (convocation week) : McTavish Street declared a pedestrian zone Lower campus declared a “Pedestrian priority” zone, with limited vehicle circulation and vehicle parking . Summer 2010 : Installation of new bike racks, benches, greenery
