Background • Process with PC began in July 2011 • PC held at least 40 meetings for discussion and public comment • Recommended Plan – July and August 2013 • Plan dated January 23, 2014 contains all PC Recommendations* * Editing underway
Substantive Changes Looked for ways to improve the local economy • Tourist-related activities in RA • Ensured sufficient area for employment-related uses • Looked at and changed the Interstate interchange policy for both RA and DA • Recommended more emphasis on agricultural activities Conducted Capacity Analysis and recommended minor changes to Development Area boundaries Developed Southern and Western Neighborhoods Plan Recommended forms of “Urban Agriculture”
Other Changes Added Economic Development and Housing Chapters Made minor changes to Affordable Housing Policy and clarified Cash Proffer Policy for affordable housing Updated Natural Resources Chapter Updated the Community Facilities Plan Updated Neighborhood Model Simplified and clarified Land Use Map and designations Incorporated Area B Studies into Plan

Steps from Tonight • Public comments regarding recommended Plan • April 2 - decide on topics to be focus of review • Staff to provide schedule - begin systematic review of topics in sequence of chapters, starting in May.
