AGENDA 1. Who is Snohomish PUD? 2. What is Enervee? 3. How is Enervee different and how are utilities using Enervee? 4. Intro to Smart Rewards 5. Results to date 6. Q&A 2
Intro to Snohomish PUD Snohomish County PUD #1 is located in Snohomish County, WA Approx. 300,000 residential electric customers Retail program’s 2016 goal: 16 million kWh 3
PUD’s switch to Enervee Prior to 2016, PUD had a mail-in rebate program for clothes washers only. Clothes Washers qualified for a $50 rebate. 2014 & 2015 averaged 2400 CWs/year 2016: 354 CWs to date (Feb – May), and 676 appliances overall Why the switch to Enervee? Shorter rebate processing Marketplace allows PUD to get involved in customer journey prior to purchase rather than afterwards Rewards versus rebate 4
What is Enervee? Enervee provides an online-based marketplace that helps consumers choose energy efficient products 5
How they do it? Market Intelligence: product details, specifications, energy use Program Criteria (CEE, Energy Star) User reviews Utility specific information 6
Uniquely Customer Centric Research and compare all products in a category Compare the most efficient models Utility reward availability Lifetime energy savings Real-time market pricing from multiple online retailers 7
Utility Customization Submit for rebates electronically Find local and online retailers Customized to the utility’s territory, tariff/rate schedule 8
Available efficient measures 9
Products & Incentives The Marketplace is different than platforms we are used to implementing Updated daily as products on the market are added, specs change Customer resource, not just a list of qualified models Can implement incentive changes and pilot reward models quickly 10
Marketing The Marketplace offers a closed loop online marketing platform Search Engine Marketing: Bing, Google AdWords Facebook Re-Marketing $2 cost per click 11
Payments Payments are quick, easy and arrive weeks faster than traditional incentives Eligible customers choose how to receive their cash Reward. 1. Prepaid debit card: 5-7 days 2. PayPal deposit: 24-48 hours 3. Home Efficiency Kit: 3-4 weeks In our former mail-in rebate program, customers could expect to receive their rebate cards in 8-10 weeks. 12
Application Process Visit http://smartrewards.snopud.com Enter your email address, and look for automated confirmation email Email a copy of your receipt to smartrewards@enervee.net Please scan or take a legible picture of your receipt reflecting the retailer, purchase date, manufacturer, model number, price, and proof of payment In 3-5 days look for receipt confirmation email, follow the link, fill in account information Receive your reward! 13
Lessons Learned Marketplace Energy Score does not necessarily correspond with utility eligibility Off line submittal process needed some finesse Enervee is primarily an online service provider with little experience acting as a call center. Site is not ideal for customers who simply want to submit for their reward after they’ve made the purchase. 14
PUD’s Results to Date 15
PUD Results by Measure There is one heat pump dryer, who received $100 + a kit. 16
