Glasgow 2014 Partners – Roles and responsibilities The Scottish Government (SG) • SG has legislative competence across majority of policy areas (including sports) necessary to host the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. • The SG will provide 80% of the public funding for the Games. It will ensure the delivery of major infrastructure projects already planned in areas such as transport. • It has introduced legislation to the Scottish Parliament to ensure compliance with all aspects of the requirements set out by the Commonwealth Games Federation. It has overall responsibility for the security of the Games and for the planning for Scotland-wide legacy benefits. 4

Glasgow 2014 Partners – Roles and responsibilities Glasgow 2014 Ltd • Glasgow 2014 Ltd is the official name for the Organising Committee, the company set up to deliver the XX (20 th ) Commonwealth Games. • The team at Glasgow 2014 comprises everyone who has a role in delivering the games which includes contractors, suppliers, stakeholders and volunteers, whose goal is to deliver an outstanding and memorable Commonwealth Games. 5

  6. Glasgow 2014 Partners – Roles and responsibilities Glasgow City Council (GCC) • The GCC will provide 20% of the public funding of the Games. This will ensure the delivery of major infrastructure projects including transport. • The Council has responsibility for the design and construction of the Athletes’ Village and ensuring long -term legacy benefits for Glasgow in areas that include social, health, regeneration, environmental and economic agendas. • The Council will provide a programme of related cultural events to take place in the lead-up to and during the period of the Games. It will also ensure additional cleaning of the city. • The council has built in a community benefit clause to all contracts awarded and requires contractors to pay a minimum of £7.20 per hour, which is the current Glasgow Living Wage. 6

Glasgow 2014 Partners – Roles and responsibilities Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS) • Commonwealth Games Scotland is the lead body for Commonwealth Sport in Scotland and is responsible for selecting, preparing and managing Scotland's team at the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games. • Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS) membership is made up of the Scottish governing bodies of the 26 Commonwealth Games Sports. • Prepare Scottish athletes in meeting the requisite standards for team selection in order to compete and perform at world class level during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. 7

Glasgow 2014 Partners – Roles and Responsibilities Search Consultancy • The Official Recruitment Consultancy to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games to fill 1,129 jobs. • Headquartered in Glasgow, will be responsible for attracting and recruiting 1,129 people from now until the Opening Ceremony on 23rd July 2014. They have employed around 350 people to date. • Glasgow 2014’s workforce will be central to the success of the Games and will comprise a vast number of roles across a range of sectors, from technical sporting roles to corporate positions to event management. • Jobs are advertised locally ( including Jobcentre Plus ) and via the Glasgow 2014 website at glasgow2014.com/jobs. 8

Glasgow 2014 Partners – roles and responsibilities Skills Development Scotland (SDS) • Is delivering two programmes from the Scottish Government Legacy 2014 Young Persons’ Fund - Employer Recruitment Incentive for the Commonwealth Games and Scotland’s Best. • Is working with partners and stakeholders to direct products and services to maximise the legacy opportunities arising from the 2014 Commonwealth Games. • Is working with the Scottish Government legacy Team, 2014 Organising Committee and partners to identify a range of areas where SDS products service and expertise can support the Legacy aspirations of the Commonwealth Games. 9

Glasgow 2014 Partners – roles and responsibilities Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) • Has a key role in maximising recruitment and volunteering opportunities for claimants. • Provide support to other employers looking to expand their workforce during the Commonwealth Games. • Prepare claimants for all opportunities that arise. • Provide labour market information to partners. • Provide support to help disadvantaged claimants move into jobs. • Ensure opportunities are shared with the Work Programme and other DWP providers. 10
