  2. What Is College Credit Plus? • Students earn High School and College Credit • Free tuition (or low cost tuition in some circumstances) • Provides pathways to 15 and 30 college credits to qualified high school students find it at Edison.

  3. Why College Credit Plus? • Promotes more college/career ready students • Increases access • Student convenience – location specific - many courses may be taught at high school - familiar environment - less travel time find it at Edison.

  4. Costs • There are no associated costs to the student • Tuition is paid for public schools • Books and fees are paid • No application fee • Consumable supplies purchased by student • Possible financial risk for failed or withdrawn classes find it at Edison.

  5. How to get Started • Attend dedicated event • Notify high school of intent to participate – April 1 deadline • After April 1 – special permission must be obtained • Complete application process – see guidance counselor • Proceed to qualification process find it at Edison.

Qualifying and Acceptance • Placement – Compass - College Level - Reading and Writing (69) - Math (minimum 52 in Algebra domain) • Placement - ACT - College level - English (18) - Math (22) • No GPA qualifier • Factors for non-qualifiers – holistic assessment • Notification of acceptance • Compass Testing Dates – see guidelines handout find it at Edison.

Scheduling • Prerequisite course work must be met • Registration occurs each semester – Summer, Fall, Spring • Authorization form from high school guidance counselor - verify courses are CC+ courses (high school) • Courses viewed on Edison website by location (coming soon) • Students may take up to 30 credit hours per academic year • Students may take courses in any offered format - High school - Edison - Online – must demonstrate online readiness - Morning, day, evening find it at Edison. - Summer, Fall, Spring

  11. Grades and Awarding Credit • 3, 4, 5 credit hour courses • 3 or more credit hours = 1 Carnegie Unit - 1 cr hr = .33 - 2 cr hr = .66 • 30 cr hr max in academic year (includes summer) find it at Edison.

Home-schooled Students • Additional Steps -- -- Must apply to the Ohio Department of Higher Ed for funding -- Funding form can be located on www.ohiohighered.org -- Copy of the funding form must be given to Edison -- May not be fully funded, but may pay out of pocket -- Student receives award letter from Ohio Dept. of Education -- Student must provide copy of award letter to Edison to be registered find it at Edison.
