Application Types School-Specific Applications created by the college and typically hosted online on the school’s website Common App / Coalition App Independent companies with member colleges | goal is to make it easier for student applicants to apply to colleges by using a “common” application to apply to multiple colleges
Decision Types Rolling Admission Applicants typically receive decision within weeks of applying – may have embedded deadlines Priority Admission Similar to rolling with earlier app date set for applicants to apply by for an advantage Regular Decision January 1 is typical app due date – hear back by April 1st

Early Action (EA) Earlier Deadline – Early Decision Notification If accepted, no Obligation to attend – have until May 1 st Restrictive EA | May only apply to one school under EA Early Decision (ED) Apply to ONE school ED - Earlier Deadline Obligated to attend if accepted Utilize Net Price Calculators Early Decision II (ED II) Like ED but with a later submission and decision dates

Procedures (cont.) Additional copies of all forms are available outside the WHS College Secretary’s Office in the Counseling Department. Forms are NOT available online in order to maintain the color-coding used to assist the process.
Procedures (cont.) ! IMPORTANT NOTES ! • Official transcripts WILL NOT be handed to any student or parent – sent directly to recipients from WHS • Documentation will only be sent to colleges AFTER all components of application are received
Sending Test Scores TIPS • Option to send up to 4 FREE score reports - $13 cost to send independently • ACT scores will not become available for WHS to send until 6-8 after testing – must be re-requested by student to send • Increasing number of colleges will not take score report copies from WHS • WHS sends full report with ALL scores
Requesting Letters of Rec Counselor Recommendation STEP 1 Complete Student & Parent Questionnaires in Naviance-Student STEP 2 Meet with Counselor to discuss questionnaires and letter of recommendation *** 10 School Days Prior to College App Deadline
Requesting Letters of Rec Teacher Recommendation STEP 1 Asking teacher to write rec “in person” – agree on completion date STEP 2 Complete process in Family Connection to link teacher electronically with College Secretary to upload letter of recommendation STEP 3 Write Thank You Note to Teacher!
Internal WHS Deadlines APPLICATION TYPE DETERMINES WHS DEADLINES Type #1 - ONLY Transcript/Test Scores required for the college application 2 School Days prior to application deadline

Senior Course Changes •Changes to senior schedules/courses MAY affect the initial or forthcoming admissions decisions • BEFORE any schedule changes are made: > Work with your counselor throughout the process > Contact each college’s admissions office directly •If schedule changes occur AFTER applications are submitted, students should contact each school explaining the course change •In some cases, we file mid-year reports, which includes second semester schedules as well as any changes to those classes
A+ Program A+ Program For students who meet criteria = paid tuition at 2-Year or Technical Missouri Colleges 4-Year Colleges | A+ Scholarships There many 4-Year Missouri Colleges that have “A+ Scholarships” to recognize meeting A+ criteria Steps to Sign-Up Online LINK: WHS Homepage/Counseling Homepage/A+ Program
Application Fee Waivers Overview Students who have limited financial resources may meet requirements to use the Fee Waiver Form when applying to colleges - (up to 4 fee waivers) Most Common Qualifiers •Enrolled in or eligible to participate in Federal Free/Reduce Price Lunch Program (FRPL) •Has received or is eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver
