Catskill Central Schools See you in September The following changes and recommendations were offered by the SAVE Committee and our legal team: Bystander Misconduct Page 10 2 0 Students who engage in misconduct when they do not 1 initiate or directly participate in prohibited; but rather by 6 their action and / or inaction they allow damage or injury which could have prevented and / or encourage 2 0 prohibited conduct. 1 7

Catskill Central Schools See you in September Cell Phones & Other Communication Devices Page 10 The District recognizes that there are personnel electronic devices that have educational applications such as calculators, voice records, digital cameras, and musical listening devices. In some instances a “smart phone” may 2 include applications that permit these functions. These 0 devices shall be allowed to be used in classrooms only 1 when they are included as part of a lesson under the 6 direction of a teacher. 2 Therefore to prevent such disruption, the display and/or use 0 by students of cellular phones (including “smart phones”), 1 pagers, 2-way communication systems other electronic 7 devices, and/or their accessories shall be prohibited from the time students arrive at school until the end of the regular school day, unless specifically permitted to be used by a teacher or administrator.

The use of such media 2 can create an increase in communication and access to 0 information and interaction. 1 6 With the popularity of Social Media as a means of staying connected in today’s world, faculty, staff, students, and 2 parents are advised to clearly distinguish between personal 0 and professional communications in order to maintain 1 confidentiality and professionalism and in order to avoid 7 potential conflicts or the appearance of impropriety.
