Route 28 Corridor Improvement Program Benefits:  Estimated significant cost savings versus bidding these as separate projects.  Internal staff efficiencies and time savings.  The total project duration can be reduced.  Reduced citizen frustration by having a centralized point of contact for responding to their concerns as well as by having coordinated work zones that will allow for better traffic flow. 1

Current project estimate is $15.6 million.  Administered by the Prince William County Department of Transportation.  Widens Vint Hill Road from a two ‐ lane undivided roadway to a four ‐ lane divided roadway with curb & gutter and a shared use path.  Adds sidewalk and widening along both sides of Kettle Run Road to Patriot High School.  Project improvements along Vint Hill Road are for 1.14 miles.  Safety, Drainage, Capacity, Signals, Pedestrian Access Improvements.  Utility relocations. 3

Vint Hill Road Extension (Sudley Manor Drive to Fitzgerald Way) Additional Design Features & Considerations  Vint Hill Road: Design Speed of 45 mph; Anticipated Posted Speed of 45 mph.  Stormwater Management Ponds (2 ponds).  Traffic Signal upgrades at Sudley Manor Drive and Kettle Run Road.  Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities: • 10’ Shared Use Path (North side of Vint Hill Road). • 5’ Sidewalk (South side of Vint Hill Road between Sudley Manor Drive and Kettle Run Road). • 5’ Sidewalk (both sides of Kettle Run Road from Vint Hill Road to Patriot H.S.). • Vint Hill Road crosswalks at Sudley Manor Drive and Kettle Run Road. • Kettle Run Road crosswalks at Vint Hill Road and Patriot H.S.  Utility Relocations (Water/Sewer and Private Utilities). 5

Vint Hill Road Extension (Sudley Manor Drive to Fitzgerald Way) Project Delivery This project is included as one of three projects in the “Prince William County Route 28 Corridor Transportation Improvements Program.” The projects are being developed using the Design ‐ Build process and are awarded as a single contract.  The three projects included in the Program are: • Route 28 ‐ Widen to Four Lanes (Phase 2) (Realigned Vint Hill Road to Fitzwater Drive) • Vint Hill Road Extension (Sudley Manor Drive to Fitzgerald Way) • Route 28 ‐ Widen to Six Lanes (Phase 3) (Linton Hall Road to Pennsylvania Avenue) 8
