  1. CERN TE-ABT-EC LIU-ABT systems: PSB BI.DIS controls Session indico.389747 Wednesday, May 27 th From 10:00 to 11:00 Room: 864/2-B14 prepared by R.A.Barlow (May 2015) 1

  2. BI.DIS Controls task distribution PLC systems Fast interlocks Power Supply IGBT trigger Timing PDC IPOC/OASIS BIS system Design RAB FCD RAB LS CC RAB + ? ? CM Development RAB FCD/JS RAB LS CC ? ? CM/RAB Commissioning RAB FCD/JS/RAB RAB LS/RAB CC RAB + ? ? CM/RAB 2

  3. BI.DIS PFN patch panel design Signals list: • Ross relay for EDS, Fire protection system, HV cable presence, housing temperature, uswitches for doors and panels, fan power and controls, measurements of freewheel and dump diode, optical inks for IGBT triggers and status read back, HV divider for IGBT,s and PFN signals. 3

  4. BI.DIS Controls racks layout 4

  5. BI.DIS Cabling news • DEC, waiting for manpower to help identify all old cable to be removed from BI.DIS system, with in mind keeping a few that the current BI.DIS uses. Estimation of cables to be removed, approximatively 500. • DIC, on-going, I believe we have till end 2015 for finalizing the document, however and in the meantime , an estimate of approximatively 200 cables (including inter-rack cables) has been made • DIR, the controls racks and positioning has been devised and sent to EN/EL • DIF, Optic fibers to be sent shortly for the optic fibers between racks and PFN’s units. 5

  6. BI.DIS Visit to Technix 12/05/2015 22 Ω Modular approach We retain Burndy connectors Some high quality components here ! 6

  7. BI.DIS Visit to Technix Front and rear panel assembly 7

  8. BI.DIS Visit to Technix Profibus interface MODBUS / Serial GSF file Instruction mapping 8

  9. BI.DIS Dummy load issues, HV cable detection 8 x 6 cables to encode (48) 6bit min (64) encoding, hence 6 digital channels per encoding scheme Means 288 channels, hence 9 DI32 modules This is complicated !!! Cable plate option for 8 cables ? 4 dig channels x 6 -> 1 DI module 9

  10. BI.DIS Outstanding issues ? 10
