Salary Structure Maintained Schools structure (followed by most Academies) • Main Pay Scale - 6 point scale: – Point 1 £21,804 – Point 6 £31,868 – Each increment approx £1,800 – Progression subject to satisfactory appraisal • Upper Pay Scale – eligible after 5 years: – UPS1 £34,523; UPS 2 £35,803; UPS 3 £37,124 – Progression after 2 years, with two successful appraisals

Additional Responsibilities for Teachers • Paid as top-up allowances (TLR) – Small dept or Deputy Head of Dept - £2,560 – Medium dept/Deputy of large Dept - £6,000 – Large dept, eg Maths, English, MFL, Science - £11,000 • Year 1 starting salary £21,804, & after 10 years you could: – Progress to UPS 3 & progressed up TLR ladder to Head of Science, with extra £11,000 – Total salary = £48,000 approx
