  1. Canadian Martyrs Catholic School General Playground Safety All of the playground safety rules at Canadian Martyrs are based on our model of being F.A.R.E. If you are practicing: Faith - living how Jesus wants us to Acceptance - including others in your games and activities Respect - demonstrating care for others and our school grounds Empathy - showing understanding of other people’s feelings… ...then we will have NO problems on the yard! Students in Junior Kindergarten to grade 3 are to be playing behind the play structure on the field and soccer area. They can also access the 4-square area and the basketball nets on the wall. At times, the soccer area is very muddy, so we will get some pylons to use as nets until the field is in better condition. Students in Grades 4 - 8 are to be playing from the baseball diamond to the end of the soccer posts. Remember that the back tree line is the boundary - please stay away from the neighbours fences. We will also provide some pylons for nets for soccer. On really nice days, the 7’s and 8’s can access the tennis courts as long as the people from the building are not on them. There needs to be a maximum of 8 people on the courts at a time - please speak to your teacher about a schedule.

  4. Canadian Martyrs Catholic School Dress Code Policy The following is written in each agenda: “The main purpose of the school dress code is to assist staff, students and parents to create a safer and more respectful learning environment. Staff and students will support the dress code by dressing in a manner which demonstrates respect for oneself, others and the Christian values of our school. The following dress code guidelines must be adhered to (including school excursions): ● Tops must be modest, and overlap the pants ● Hemmed shorts, walking shorts, skirts and dresses must be mid-thigh or longer in length ● Only clothing with positive messages and pictures are permitted, please do not wear clothing with rips or tears in them ● Tight fitting clothing and pajama tops and bottoms are not permitted ● Hats and headwear are not to be worn inside the school, however, we do encourage their use when outside ● Two pairs of shoes are necessary at all times. One for outdoor and one for indoor. ● For safety reasons, do NOT wear shoes that are open-toed. ● Students must wear running shoes or shoes that cover the entire foot when playing on the creative playground structure. Students that do not adhere to the dress code will be asked to cooperate, make suitable changes and/or be sent home. Staff will make every effort to respect the dignity of each child when dealing with related concerns.

  5. Canadian Martyrs Catholic School Dress Code Policy (cont’d) What does this all mean? It means that at Canadian Martyrs we will use a “common sense” approach to our dress code - and we ask that you do the same. If anyone on staff notice that you are not following the guidelines we WILL ask you to change. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask your teacher or Mr. Spitzig in the office. Remember! As the sun comes out and the weather turns warm, sun protection will be necessary. Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses are encouraged for all students and a refillable water bottle is also a necessity! We want you to have fun and be safe in the sun!

  6. Canadian Martyrs Catholic School Be F.A.R.E. always! Once your entire class reads to here...the playground is officially open for the season!!!
