3 Lowell Public Schools Safety has always been our primary concern. This year we have added additional safety measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Safety ▫ In-person classrooms are set up with Measures in student work spaces six feet apart. Place
4 Lowell Public Schools ▫ Only 10-12 students will be in each classroom space. ▫ Hallways are marked with 6 foot distancing Safety markers. ▫ Schedules have been set up so different Measures in grade levels will be transitioning at different Place times.
5 Lowell Public Schools ▫ All rooms utilized have working windows ▫ Air purifiers ▫ HVAC system has been inspected and is Safety running correctly ▫ PPE: hand sanitizer, disinfectant in each Measures in classroom, disinfectant fogging schedule, Place gloves, gowns, masks and face shields available for staff who need to be within 6 feet of your child (for diapering as an example) ▫ Schedules have been set up so different grade levels will be transitioning at different times.
6 Lowell Public Schools A Parent’s Role: YOU are our first line of defense! ▪ I f your student is showing symptoms they should Covid Exposure remain home and get tested ▪ Plan If negative student can return to school 24 hours after showing no symptoms (without medication) ▪ If positive student should remain home for 10 days and will be evaluated by a public health care professional during that time. Please notify the school ▫ Students showing symptoms at school ▪ Wait in an isolated space away from others ▪ Parents called to pick student up ▫ Health Department will notify parents of positive cases in which their student had close contact
How can I help as a parent? 7 Lowell Public Schools Maintain typical routines for school days, such as early ▫ bedtimes and wake up times to be at school on time. Family Make sure that we have accurate phone numbers and ▫ Responsibilities email addresses for you and anyone allowed to pick up your child from school. for In-Person Send your child to school each day wearing a clean ▫ Learning mask. Send a second mask in their backpack. We will provide bottled water with both meals, but ▫ please send your child with a water bottle marked with his or her name to use throughout the day. Students are welcome to bring their own hand sanitizer ▫ and individual pack of tissues. ▫ Reach out to us with any questions. We are here to help you!

9 Lowell Public Schools ● Children will eat breakfast and lunch in their classrooms to avoid large gatherings and cross contamination. Procedures & ● All bathrooms will be single use bathrooms and will be disinfected regularly. Expectations ● All classrooms will be “fogged” at regular intervals throughout the school day. During this time, students will have time to play outside (or in the cafeteria space in bad weather) and enjoy a mask break while remaining socially distant. ● Teachers and other school staff will interact with specific groups of students in person. ● NO visitors will be allowed into the building, due to COVID, unless scheduled. NO field trips or in person open house.
10 Lowell Public Schools ● Recess is an important more social, less structured part of the school day for children. Recess ● Teachers will bring students outside for recess (weather permitting) daily. Protocols ● Children will remain six feet apart and can remove their masks ● Games that include physical touch (like tag) will be replaced with games that can be played with sufficient space (such as switch or Simon says) ● Students will be able to use equipment. Any used equipment will be disinfected between student use. ● Children will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer after recess.
11 Lowell Public Schools ▫ All children and adults will wear masks at Masks all times during the school day. ▫ Please make sure your child has a mask that fully covers his or her nose and mouth and is secured behind his or her ears. ▫ As part of the daily schedule, all children will have regular mask breaks.
12 Lowell Public Schools Our school day starts at 7:30. We will open the Wilder ▫ Street door promptly at 7:30. Please have children wait with you in the car until Dr. McLaughlin and Mrs. Arrival and Woodlock open the school doors. If you are walking to Dismissal school, please stay socially distant from others while waiting. Procedures ▫ Due to Covid, we will not be able to bring children into the building early as we have in the past. When children arrive, they will enter the building and walk directly to their classrooms. School staff will be in the hallways to direct them. ▫ Arrival and dismissal may take longer than usual to ensure social distancing. Thank you for being patient as we work to keep everyone safe.

16 Lowell Public Schools Grade levels will be using the same electronic platforms for learning: PreK-2 will be using Seesaw Communication Grades 3-4 will use Google Classroom Teachers will communicate through the Classdojo app, their email and by school phone. Devices and supplies will all be provided to your child. Your child will usually keep their devices at school unless the teacher deems they are needed at home that night or if we need to close the building. Available passwords for platforms will be provided when you pick up the computers.

19 Lowell Public Schools What to expect when you pick up your student computer device: Device & There are THREE forms families can expect when you arrive to pick up the device: Materials ▫ Acceptable Use Form - this 4 page document explains exactly what is considered acceptable use of a Distribution LPS computer device and supplies- you will take this home with you. Plan ▫ Device Receipt Form - a staff member will help you complete this form for our records that documents your student’s information and the exact device received ▫ Insurance Information and web-link - you will receive information about an optional insurance program which covers damage and/or loss of the device for $24 for the full year
