BUCKINGHAM GROUP Welcome to this presentation which will give you a brief introduction to the scheme at BROMSGROVE STATION We have been engaged by NETWORK RAIL on behalf of CENTRO and WORCESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL to build a brand new Station, Ticket Office, Car Parks, Lift & Footbridge. The works are due to start in AUGUST 2014 with completion and station opening in MAY 2015

  3. THE CURRENT STATION BROMSGROVE STATION is currently a small unmanned facility which is located on the main Birmingham to Gloucester Line. It is served by rail services which operate between Birmingham New Street and Worcester and Birmingham New Street and Cardiff

  4. WHY BUILD A NEW STATION? Passenger usage has increased over the last ten years by approximately 400% The strongest growth rate in Worcestershire

  5. THE NEW STATION…. � Will be located approximately 330m South of the existing station, on the site of the old oil depot and railway sidings � This will allow operation of the existing station during construction works

  6. SITE OF NEW STATION Area to be used for Station Building and Car Park Island Platforms and Footbridge link to new Station building Demolition of existing platform and footbridge

KEY COMPONENTS… � Car Park & Bus Interchange � Taxi Area with 2 Vehicular Access Roads from STOKE ROAD (NEW ROAD & SELWAY ROAD) � A New Station Building with Ticket Office, Waiting Facilities, Toilet and Small Retail Outlet � Covered Footbridge with Step Free Access – LIFTS � 2 New Platforms to accommodate 6-Car Trains � New Lighting, CCTV, Public Announcement and Customer Information Systems � Following slides show Artist Impressions:

  11. HOW WE WILL BUILD IT…. CAR PARK CONSTRUCTION The existing concrete slabs covering most of the site will need to be broken up and crushed for use as “Engineering fill”…

  12. HOW WE WILL BUILD IT…. CAR PARK CONSTRUCTION The ground will then be levelled before drainage is installed, followed by sub-base, kerbs and final surfacing

  13. HOW WE WILL BUILD IT…. PHASING: Main access will be down New Road, thus avoiding the narrow route past Busy Bees nursery. This road will be reconstructed later in the programme, when Busy Bees traffic can be routed through the newly built roads

  15. HOW WE WILL BUILD IT…. PLATFORM CONSTRUCTION Works will be carried out during daytime, but materials will need to be lifted in and out when the railway is closed at night. This will be concurrent with car park works

  16. HOW WE WILL BUILD IT…. PLATFORM CONSTRUCTION Piling will be installed using piling rigs, working in a fenced green zone. Mini diggers will remove spoil

  17. HOW WE WILL BUILD IT…. PLATFORM CONSTRUCTION: Pre-cast platform cross-beams & planks lifted into place by crawler crane

  18. HOW WE WILL BUILD IT…. FOOTBRIDGE & LIFTS: Steelwork for lifts & footbridge lifted into place using crawler crane during possession periods

STATION BUILDING: Following removal of existing concrete hard standing: � Install Piled foundations, pile caps, ground beams and lift pit � Install below ground service and drainage ducts � Install Steel Frame using small cranes and tele-handler � Complete external finishes including cladding and brickwork � Once water tight complete internal fit out � Complete external paved area and install street furniture
