  2. Dual Language/Immersion- (DLI) is an established program which began at Boudreaux during the 2005- 2006 school year. This program is available to all students from K- 8th Grade

  3. What is a Dual Language/Immersion? This program is developed to ensure that students become bilingual, biliterate in Spanish/English & have cultural competence while learning with grade level material.

  4. Why Choose a Dual Language Program? • The need for more bilingual people is growing in the USA. Dual language programs give English monolingual students an opportunity to become truly bilingual and biliterate. • The Dual Language program provides a more effective way to meet the needs of our English Language Learners (ELLs) to improve academic performance.

  5. Benefits of Dual Language- Immersion Research • Research outlines the benefits of DLI for students, including: • higher academic performance, • greater cognitive development in mental flexibility, creativity, and divergent thinking, • high levels of proficiency in the target language and in English, • positive cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors, and • enhanced career opportunities.
