Sappada, Italy • Sappada is situated on the southern slopes of the Peralba mountain, part of the Carnic Alps range, close to the border with Austria. • There are three resorts (Eiben, Sappada 2000 and Monte Siera) whose slopes are accessible from the town centre. This resort is a beginners paradise with a large area of nursery slopes. • Expert skiers can head up to 2100m where the EIBEN COL DEI MUGHI piste will test your resolve. • There are 22km of slopes to enjoy.

Coach Travel • Loose comfy clothing – layers! • Sandwiches/snacks/drinks – no smelly food! • Keep hydrated • Phones, iPads & money are your responsibility • Travel sickness pills • Small bag for the coach. • Pillow / Blanket • Games , iPods, DVD’s (to be vetted by staff). Please note, school will not take responsibility for any lost mobile phones etc. • Wash kit / toothbrush • Money for countries you will be passing through, as stops will be made. Before we depart you will need to hand in your passport & EHIC to Miss Cole

  6. Hotel Information The complex comprises of five different accommodation blocks well suited to school groups. The rooms all come with private bathroom. There are a number of areas available for meeting with the group or for hosting parts of the evening activity programme. There is a meeting room for evening activities, a games room, indoor sports hall, tennis court, indoor heated swimming pool, outdoor pool, children’s playground and a disco. There is also free WiFi available in public areas.

Please pack one soft holdall per student and one piece of hand luggage for the coach Boots, skis, poles and helmets are provided TK Maxx, Sports Direct, Amazon, Aldi, Mountain Warehouse

Suggested Kit List • Euros and wallet or purse to keep them in • Passport EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) • Personal medication (clearly labelled with name) • Changes of outdoor clothing for the holiday duration/Jumper for the evening • Pyjamas • Wash kit (Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo etc) • Swimwear and swim cap • Bath towels • Plug adaptors • Changes of underwear, socks etc. • Clothes for evening activities including warm tops. • Footwear (for evening activities) e.g. trainers • Suitcase/bag

  14. Conduct on the Piste RESPECT FOR OTHERS - Be aware of all skiers around you and do not endanger them. Give priority to skiers downhill of you. When overtaking or crossing the path of another skier, it is your responsibility to ensure that you do not collide or cause him/her to fall. CONTROL OF SPEED - Only ski within the limits of your ability and be sure you can always stop safely. CHOICE OF ROUTE - Pick your route carefully and be prepared to handle changing situations with other skiers/boarders and the mountain itself. OVERTAKING - Always allow space for others to make their turns and remember that those ahead of you have right of way. The slower skier/boarder also has right of way. START IN SAFETY - Look up and down before starting off or entering a piste and ensure enough space to avoid the path of other piste users. STOPPING ON THE PISTE - Never stop to rest in the middle of a piste or on blind corners or sudden drops. Get to the side of the piste where it is safer. After a fall, move quickly to the side. RESPECT FOR SIGNS AND MARKINGS - Always obey signs. They provide vital information for YOU and YOUR safety on the mountain. IDENTIFY YOURSELF AT AN ACCIDENT - Understand accident procedures and be prepared to help. Witnesses must provide names and addresses .

Conduct off the Piste • Normal excellent behaviour standards are expected! • Representing Bishop Young Academy • On the ferry, going around the town etc. you must stay in groups of 3 or more • Remember meeting points and times and do not be late • No alcohol etc. • Do not go into other people’s rooms

  17. Staying Connected • There are no roaming charges for using your normal data allowance in Europe. However there are still charges for going over your monthly allowance so be careful! • There is WiFi in the hotel • Please make sure your contact details are up to date so that we can inform you of an eta on the way home. • Students will be given emergency contact numbers in case they get separated from the group
