A Day in the Life! • Academics • Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science • Interdisciplinary Themes and Curriculum • Co-Curricular classes include • 45 minutes each class • One Semester of Art (2x per week) • One Semester of Engineering Technology (2x per week) • One Year of Engage (2x per week) • One Year of PE (2x per week) • Swimming schedule listed in the weekly WAG and on the teachers’ blogs/sites • One Year of Spanish (2x per week) • Click the 3-8 matrix of co-curricular classes • Snacks/Breaks • Lunch/Recess • 20 minute lunch – 3 lines (regular, healthy, pizza/snacks) • 20 minute Recess • Planner and binder • Academic Day ends at 3:20 PM/Choice Hour begins at 3:25PM

Mornings • When does our school open to students – Breakfast for purchase in the cafeteria after 7:30 a.m. – Students may be in the hallways at 8:00 a.m. – classes begin at 8:18 a.m. on regular days • Breakfast is available for purchase • Kid’s Club – after Choice Hour, 4:10-6:00 p.m. • Traffic circle and parking lot – Park in designated spaces only (no parking in circle drives) – There are “10 Minute Spaces” (Blast Winners spaces too) – Check out the Traffic Flow Map

Office Procedures • Call in or email all absences with as much notice as possible (extended absence requires pre-approval) • Visitor Notification System (VNS) • Sign in at the office when picking up children • Always check-in the office when entering the building to get visitor’s pass – check-out when leaving • A bustling front office – a great place to volunteer • Students can call home from the office

Communications • Importance of BCSonline.info for Parent News and Forms • Emails listed in PowerSchool are automatically included in our Blackboard Connect communication system. • Sign up additional emails for school eNews at https://bpsenews.bbcportal.com/. • Check http://bcsonline.info for teacher websites and student resources • Open Door Policy or Schedule appointments to speak to administrators or counselors • Make appointments to meet with teachers (Email vs. Voice Mail) • Sign up for important text reminders by texting @bcsf to the number 81010

Transportation • Make a Connection • Shuttles and direct morning buses • Buses arrive for 4:10 PM dismissal only and will leave BCS promptly at 4:20 PM. • When will students arrive home on buses? • Must bring in a note if riding with a friend • note must be signed by office staff • All students on buses enter through the “recess” doors near the cafeteria by the bus loop • Traffic Circle Procedures • Parking, drop-off, pick-up expectations • Students dropped off enter the main doors • Click Traffic Pattern Map for more details and a route map.
